Arsenal Football Club have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 2004 after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth.
The result officially handed Arsenal the title, ending a 22-year wait since Arsène Wenger’s famous “Invincibles” side lifted the trophy without losing a league match.
Players and coaching staff gathered at Arsenal’s training base in Hertfordshire to watch the decisive match together. Moments after the final whistle, Declan Rice shared a celebratory photo on Instagram alongside Kai Havertz, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba.
“I told you all… it’s done,” Rice wrote, referencing his earlier rallying message after Arsenal’s defeat to City last month.
Videos circulating online showed players and staff celebrating wildly, chanting “championes” as Eze danced on a table during the celebrations.
The triumph marks a major milestone for Mikel Arteta, who has guided Arsenal back to the summit of English football in his first managerial role. The Spaniard took charge in December 2019 after replacing Unai Emery and has steadily rebuilt the club into serious title contenders.
After finishing runners-up in the previous three seasons, Arsenal finally completed the job despite seeing a nine-point lead reduced earlier in the campaign following defeat to City at the Etihad Stadium.
Arteta’s side responded strongly in the closing stages of the season, winning four straight league matches without conceding a goal. Their crucial 1-0 victory over Burnley F.C. on Monday proved decisive in keeping the pressure on City.
How did Arsenal fans celebrate Premier League win?
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans gathered around pubs near the Emirates Stadium hoping Bournemouth could take points off City. The atmosphere erupted after the final whistle, with thousands flooding the streets in celebration before marching toward the stadium.
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was among those seen celebrating the historic achievement.
Arsenal will officially receive the Premier League trophy on Sunday after their final match of the season against Crystal Palace F.C. at Selhurst Park.
Arteta could yet complete an even more memorable campaign if Arsenal defeat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League final on May 30. Only five English clubs have previously won both the league title and the European Cup in the same season, with Manchester City last achieving the feat in 2023
