Kabras Queens and Upendo FC emerged as champions of the Tujiamini Cheza Dimba Western Region tournament, held last weekend at Bungoma High School.

The grassroots football competition brought together eight teams—six male and two female—in a thrilling showcase of local talent.

The tournament, part of the broader Tujiamini initiative, aims to celebrate emerging players and offer meaningful support to community sports programs.

In the women’s final, Kabras Queens edged past Kiman’get FC with a narrow 1-0 victory, taking home a Ksh 50,000 one-time cash prize.

Meanwhile, Upendo FC triumphed in the men’s category after a tough battle against Nakarila FC. Their victory earned them a three-year sponsorship from SportPesa, valued at Ksh 250,000 annually, along with new home and away kits.

Speaking on Tuesday, Enos, team manager of last year’s champions Greenblades Spass, praised the initiative: “The financial support awarded to the winners is essential in nurturing raw talent from the grassroots. Programs like Tujiamini create real opportunities for young players.”

SportPesa’s Public Relations Executive, Debrah Maina, emphasized the broader vision of the campaign: “Tujiamini is not just about football—it’s about belief, growth, and opportunity. With a Ksh 30 million budget, this initiative supports sports, talent development, and community projects.”

Maina also noted the program’s tangible impact: “From the regions we engaged last year, we’ve already seen several teams advance into higher leagues. This proves that grassroots talent, when supported, can shine on bigger stages.”

To ensure lasting impact, Tujiamini has pledged continued annual support of Ksh 250,000 to Cheza Dimba winning teams over the next three years, along with new kits each season to keep teams equipped and motivated.

Following the successful Western Region event, the Tujiamini Cheza Dimba tournament now heads to the Eastern–North Eastern region in June 2025, continuing its mission to empower young footballers across the country.
