Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has been summoned by the DCI over alleged incitement.
A letter signed by Assistant Inspector General of Police George Lenny Kisaka indicates Kihara is under investigation for allegations of posting content considered to be inciteful, contravening Section 132 of the Penal Code.
In the letter, the DCI blames Kihara for having taken part in the offence. She is required to present herself at DCI Headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. with a warning of facing legal action should she fail to comply.
The move comes as more leaders loyal to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are facing scrutiny. Kihara is among the louder critics of President William Ruto’s regime in recent months.
In a sharp response posted online, Kihara accused the government of trying to silence dissent using state agencies.
“The days of intimidating leaders using the criminal justice system are long gone,” she wrote. “Summoning me won’t change anything. This is bigger than me; it’s about Kenya.”
She also addressed the president directly, saying, “Mr. President, this strategy has been used before. It failed then and it will fail now.”
Kihara said she wouldn’t stop speaking out, describing the current administration as oppressive.
Her summons comes as pressure mounts on the government to act against Gachagua’s allies, with accusations flying over links to recent protests and claims of hiring goons to stir chaos.
