Former Citizen TV news anchor Janet Mbugua is making a highly anticipated return to the media scene after a break from the industry. Mbugua, who has been a household name in Kenyan broadcasting, has joined Nation Media Group (NMG), marking a new chapter in her illustrious career.

The announcement was made on Friday, January 24, by Simaloi Dajom, the Head of Broadcasting at NMG, who expressed excitement about welcoming the celebrated media personality to the team. “I am excited to inform you that renowned media personality, Janet Mbugua has joined Nation Media Group,” Dajom stated. He highlighted Mbugua’s versatile background, which includes experience in TV, radio, and digital media.

She has previously worked as a prime-time news anchor, show host, and content producer for major outlets in both Kenya and South Africa. Dajom also praised Mbugua for her advocacy for women and girls’ inclusivity and her dedication to amplifying voices for social change.

Janet Mbugua will co-host the popular breakfast show alongside Eric Latiff, who recently left Standard Group. Her return to the media comes after a long hiatus since her departure from Citizen TV in April 2017, where she worked for six years as a leading news anchor.
