The National Treasury has announced that Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi will present the national budget statement for the 2025/26 financial year on Thursday, June 12.
Mbadi, who was appointed to the position in 2024, will read his maiden national budget in the National Assembly, starting at 3pm.
The Treasury boss is expected to outline the government’s fiscal policy priorities, tax measures, and development plans.
The 2025/26 budget estimates increased to KSh 4.26 trillion, up from KSh 3.98 trillion in the previous fiscal year. Revenue projections are set at KSh 3.39 trillion.
Of the budget, the government intends to spend KSh 3.1 trillion on recurrent expenses, KSh 725.1 billion on development projects, and KSh 436.7 billion on county allocation.
Education will receive the largest share of the budget at KSh 701 billion.
