The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has called for urgent investigations into the killing of advocate Tom Ouya Imbukwa, in a case that has shocked the legal community.
LSK President Charles Kanjama said the society received the news with deep sadness, describing Imbukwa’s death as a big loss to lawyers across the country. He sent condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late advocate.
LSK noted that Imbukwa had been brutally assaulted, tortured, and finally murdered by unidentified persons. The body highlighted that the manner in which Imbukwa lost his life had raised significant fears regarding the security of lawyers in the country.
In light of this, Kanjama urged DCI and NPS to act swiftly and conduct extensive investigations.
“We lost our colleague through assault, torture, and murder. This is a very serious matter and requires prompt action,” said Kanjama.
Besides, he urged any citizen who had any relevant information regarding the matter to get in touch with the police or LSK.
However, Kanjama went on to warn that those involved among the ranks of the government officials will be dealt with by law in the same way as other suspects. He emphasized that nobody will be spared just because they occupy high positions within the state.
The LSK stated that it would remain supportive of the Imbukwa family throughout the process.
“Justice for Tom Ouya Imbukwa is non-negotiable,” Kanjama said, stating that attacks against or murder of lawyers must stop completely.
This occurrence follows a similar killing of another Nairobi-based lawyer, Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, back in September 2025 when he was gunned down along Magadi Road.
According to the findings of the Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor, the deceased died due to massive blood loss following multiple shots fired at him.
