Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja yesterday joined Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen for a security assessment tour in Laikipia County, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security in the region.

The high-level visit allowed the leaders to meet senior security officials from Laikipia, Isiolo, Samburu, and Meru counties at the Kilimon Security Command. Discussions focused on the progress made in combating insecurity and the challenges faced by officers on the ground.

CS Murkomen commended the multi-agency teams for their dedication to securing the region and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources to support their work. He emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations in tackling banditry and other security threats.

IG Kanja praised the seamless coordination among security agencies, noting that their joint efforts had significantly restored peace in previously volatile areas. He also thanked CS Murkomen for his continued support and regular visits, which he said had boosted the morale of security personnel.

The visit was attended by top security officials, including Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat, Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Hassan Abdi, General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant Ranson Lolmodooni, Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) Commandant Joseph Limo, Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati, and Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

The government remains focused on sustaining security operations in the Rift Valley, with authorities emphasizing intelligence-led strategies to maintain long-term stability in the region.
