Machakos detectives have dismantled a notorious burglary syndicate responsible for a series of daring hardware store break-ins in Machakos and Joska. The gang, led by Wycliffe Matheka Kithuku, alias Uthex, was apprehended alongside accomplices Cynthia Mbithe Musyoka and Jackson Wambua Mutinda in a well-planned police operation.
During the arrest, officers recovered a getaway motorcycle (KMGP 114M) along with burglary tools, including a bolt cutter and a long metal rod allegedly used to intimidate watchmen.
The operation extended to Machakos town, where detectives cornered Brian Wambua Manza. Under pressure, he led police to a scrap metal dealer, exposing a hidden stash of stolen hardware supplies. Among the recovered items were 200 kilograms of nails, 25 kilograms of hoop iron, and a laptop, all traced back to a hardware store in Joska.
Further investigations revealed that Kithuku, Mutinda, and Manza are ex-convicts recently released from Machakos GK Prison. Their brief return to freedom was cut short as they now face fresh charges.
Police have secured the recovered items as evidence, and the suspects are in custody awaiting court proceedings.
