New HIV infections have dropped by 83 percent in the last decade, Health CS Dr. Debora Barasa announced.
Barasa was addressing health stakeholders during the launch of the World AIDS Day 2024 Half Marathon.
The event gathered key stakeholders, including representatives from UNAIDS, WOFAK, and Nairobi County, as well as youth advocates.
Dr. Barasa highlighted Kenya’s progress, including an 83% reduction in new HIV infections and a 65% drop in AIDS-related deaths over the past decade.
The event aims to raise awareness and further strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS, with a special focus on supporting men and boys living with the disease.
