The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has joined forces with shipping company Maersk to make cargo handling faster and more efficient across the region.
The move was announced during a meeting at the Port of Mombasa between KPA Managing Director, Capt. William Ruto, and Maersk’s Eastern Africa Managing Director, Tito Okuku, along with his team.
“This partnership will help exporters reach global markets faster and make trade more reliable,” Capt. Ruto said.
Maersk is keen to explore new opportunities as its business grows in East Africa.
A key focus is the Naivasha Inland Container Depot, a major hub for Kenya’s fresh produce exports. The depot allows exporters to move goods to international markets more quickly and reliably.
Capt. Ruto welcomed the collaboration, noting that cargo volumes at the port and inland facilities are rising. He assured Maersk that KPA is ready to handle the increased demand, while also upgrading infrastructure to make services faster and smoother.
