Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has dismissed the alleged abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi as “political theatrics,” citing inconsistencies in the reported incident.
Kanja said investigations found no signs of a kidnapping at the scene where Koimburi was discovered, and that video footage of the supposed abduction did not match the physical location.
“The vegetation and road dimensions in the video do not align with the actual site,” said Kanja, adding that the coffee farm’s caretaker, where the MP was found, reported no such incident.
He also questioned how Koimburi’s team knew where to find him and noted that the MP was driven to hospital in his own vehicle by a close associate.
Opposition leaders, however, maintain the abduction was real. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former CS Justin Muturi condemned the police narrative, with Muturi remarking, “Kanja, you can tell that story to the birds.”
The conflicting accounts leave lingering questions about what truly happened to the legislator.
