A paramilitary drone strike by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) hit a military base and fuel depot in Kosti, White Nile State, on Tuesday, sparking fires and panic. The RSF’s long-range campaign follows recent army gains in the capital, Khartoum.

Eyewitnesses reported explosions and thick smoke in Kosti, some 320 km south of the capital, as tensions between the RSF and the army, locked in war since April 2023 intensify.

Meanwhile, a cholera outbreak worsens in Khartoum, with over 2,700 cases and 172 deaths reported in a week. The crisis has been fueled by blackouts and water shortages caused by previous RSF drone strikes on power stations.

Hospitals are overwhelmed, clean water is scarce, and residents are resorting to unsafe Nile water, heightening the spread of the deadly disease.

Aid agencies warn the health system is nearing collapse amid Sudan’s ongoing war and humanitarian crisis.
