The interruption aired on April 15 at 8 PM, cutting across on DStv and GOtv, reaching households across the continent. It was a dramatic announcement celebrating a historic moment of ten African nations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, the largest presentation of African tournament in history.
African teams had five slots over a decade at the World Cup, with FIFA’s expansion to 48 teams, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) secured a ten slots for 2026 making a great achievement for the African football.
The ten African countries selected are Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Democratic Republic of Congo.

The tournament kicks off from June 11 to July 19, 2026, making it the longest and most extensive tournament in World Cup history.
