In a move to enhance digital accessibility and inclusivity, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, met with a delegation from the Nairobi Association of the Deaf at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The meeting focused on leveraging technology to bridge gaps and create a more inclusive society for deaf individuals in Kenya.

Kenya is home to approximately 2.75 million deaf persons, who face significant challenges in navigating daily life.

Recognizing the potential of technology to empower this community, Kabogo emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to driving innovation that supports persons with disabilities.

“Technology has the power to enrich lives and ensure that every deaf person in Kenya has the opportunity to thrive. We remain committed to driving innovation that empowers persons with disabilities,” he said.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s broader agenda to promote digital transformation and inclusivity across Kenya. By engaging with organizations like the Nairobi Association of the Deaf, the Ministry aims to foster a culture of inclusivity and ensure that all Kenyans can benefit from the country’s digital advancements.

Kabogo has been actively involved in various initiatives since assuming office, including the launch of the Eldoret Regional Office of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, highlighting his commitment to expanding digital infrastructure and protecting data privacy in Kenya
