Kenyan artist Bien Aime Baraza has surprised fans with a revelation that left many praising his loyalty and sense of brotherhood in the music industry.

Speaking during a recent interview, Bien shared that Tanzanian rapper Darassa personally reached out to him with an eye-watering offer—$2 million—to perform at his album listening party. However, despite the generous figure, Bien turned it down, insisting that their bond meant more than money.

“Darassa alinipigia mwenyewe akaniambia anataka nije nipige show hapa,” Bien said.
“Nikamwambia siwezi mcharge mimi manake yeye ni blood brother yangu.”

Loosely translated, Bien explained that Darassa personally called him and requested his presence at the event. In response, Bien told him he couldn’t possibly charge for a performance because he considers Darassa a “blood brother.”

The Bald Men Love Better singer emphasised that while music is business, certain relationships rise above financial transactions. According to Bien, their shared journey in music and mutual respect outweigh any paycheck.

The unexpected display of humility and loyalty has sparked admiration across social media, with many fans celebrating Bien for valuing relationships over riches. Others applauded the move as a rare gesture in an industry often driven by money.

Darassa’s listening party has already generated buzz in East Africa, and Bien’s comments have only added to the hype. Whether or not he will appear on stage remains to be seen—but one thing’s clear: this brotherhood is real.
