The Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy has begun piloting a paperless correspondence system, marking a significant step towards digital transformation in government operations.

Speaking at the ministry headquarters, ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo emphasized that the move aims to eliminate bureaucratic delays, promote transparency, and improve project tracking.

“By embracing digital processes, we are streamlining service delivery, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring transparency in government operations. Once the pilot phase is complete, this initiative will be rolled out across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” Kabogo stated.

To accelerate the transition to a digitally-driven public service, Kabogo held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Tony Blair Institute (TBI), led by Regional Director for East Africa, Joanne Mutungi. The institute is providing crucial technical support in e-government and e-commerce to ensure seamless implementation of digital systems.

“We appreciate the unwavering support from TBI, whose technical advisors are helping us build a more efficient and technology-driven government,” Kabogo added.

Joanne Mutungi reaffirmed the institute’s commitment, noting that technology is a key enabler of effective leadership and governance.

“Digital transformation will improve service delivery and accountability in government. We are proud to support Kenya’s journey towards a smarter, more connected public sector,” Mutungi said.

She was accompanied by Faith Gitonga (Acting Country Director & Head of Technology), Charles Kinyeki, and Frida Inchoga, who are actively supporting the ministry in implementing the paperless system.

Kabogo reiterated the government’s commitment to making public service more responsive, transparent, and efficient through digital innovation.

The paperless initiative aligns with Kenya’s broader agenda to embrace technology-driven governance, ensuring that citizens receive faster and more efficient services.
