Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto’s administration of using state security officers as a tool of intimidation.
Speaking during a candid interview with Inooro TV on Sunday, Gachagua claimed that security personnel assigned to him pose a serious threat to his life.
“I don’t need your security officers. They are a threat to me, and they can kill me or harm,i’m with the people ,how can you allow a former deputy president to be intimidated and yet there is no any arrests? ,” Gachagua boldly stated during the televised interview, in what appears to be an escalating rift between him and his former boss, President Ruto.
The former deputy president’s remarks come amid an ongoing power struggle within the political circles of the Mount Kenya region, where Gachagua has sought to assert himself as a leader.
Gachagua did not mince words, expressing concerns over what he termed as the “weaponization” of state machinery to stifle dissent.
He further alleged that his security detail has been compromised, adding to fears for his personal safety.
