Rachael Otuoma, the widow of the late Kenyan footballer Ezekiel Otuoma, delivered an emotional tribute at his burial, vowing to keep his memory alive forever.
Speaking at their family home in Ramula, Siaya County, on Saturday, January 11, Rachael shared her deep commitment to her late husband’s legacy. She vowed never to remove her wedding ring, describing it as a powerful symbol of their undying love and the years they spent together.
“For better or for worse, for almost five years, I stood by him,” she said, reflecting on their journey through his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). “It wasn’t easy. Living with MND takes great strength and commitment. But I stood by him because I loved him, and I still love him. This ring is a reminder of that love. I will never take it off.”
Rachael’s words highlighted the strength of their bond, especially during the difficult times. She spoke fondly of the love and respect Otuoma showed her, even in their hardest moments.
“To be with him for those four years wasn’t always easy. We had our disagreements, and our love wasn’t perfect, as anyone who is married knows,” she acknowledged. “But I stayed because he loved me deeply, and he treated me with honor. He always made sure I had everything I needed, and he never hesitated to support my family, including providing for my mother whenever she needed anything.”
