Today, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Barasa, led a high-profile visit to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to assess patient welfare and reaffirm the government’s dedication to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

She was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Mr. Harry Kimtai (Medical Services) and Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health), Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, and KNH CEO Dr. Evanson Kamuri.

During the visit, the Ministry of Health declared significant progress in addressing previous challenges in the healthcare system, stating that it is now fully operational.

The Ministry emphasized its focus on providing affordable and quality healthcare services to all Kenyans.

“We are committed to ensuring every Kenyan has access to affordable and quality healthcare. The resolution of past issues marks a significant milestone in our UHC journey,” said Dr. Barasa.

The Ministry urged Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access healthcare services at public facilities across the country, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve service delivery.

The visit is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance healthcare access and quality nationwide.
