A storm has brewing at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over Secretary General Senator Edwin Sifuna’s criticism of the broad-based political arrangement deemed by some party leaders a rebellion and calling for his ouster.

ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga has come out in strong defense of Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, against backlash from within the party over his criticism of the government’s approach to national issues.

Speaking in Kakamega, Odinga reaffirmed ODM’s commitment to freedom of expression and internal democracy.

Odinga also revealed that the party will soon hold a closed-door meeting to deliberate on emerging issues and chart a way forward.

Despite the storm, Sifuna has stood by his remarks, arguing that ODM must remain a strong opposition voice and remain true to its founding principles.
