The Committee on Appointments has recommended the approval of three nominees for key Cabinet positions following rigorous vetting sessions.
In a report signed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, the committee assessed the suitability of Ruto’s the three nominees, as outlined under Article 152(2) of the Constitution, the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, and Standing Order 204(4) of the National Assembly Standing Orders.
Hon. Mutahi Kagwe, EGH – Recommended for appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development. Hon. William Kabogo – Proposed for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy. Hon. Lee Kinyanjui – Nominated for Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry.
The recommendations now await the approval of the House, a crucial step toward the nominees’ formal appointment to the Cabinet.
The vetting process, conducted under the oversight of Speaker Wetang’ula, considered various factors, including the nominees’ qualifications, integrity, and vision for their respective dockets. The committee’s endorsement signals confidence in their ability to deliver on the mandates of the ministries they are set to lead.

If approved, the nominees will join the Cabinet to spearhead critical development agendas, including agriculture, digital transformation, and trade.
