A letter is currently circulating on social media purporting that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached by Members of Parliament, has resigned.
The letter addressed to “The People of Kenya,” claimed that Gachagua had resigned effective immediately over personal reasons and his impeachment motion, which is currently in the Senate.
“I believe it is in the best interest of both my conscience and the people I serve,” the letter reads in part.
However, TUKIO.co.ke understands that should Gachagua choose to resign, in any case, he would address the letter to President William Ruto directly.
Also, the circulating letter does not have the DP’s official signatures and stamps, making it automatically fake.
Further, a source intimated to this publication from Gachagua’s office dismissed the letter as fake.
