The government has released Ksh. 4.6 billion to beneficiaries under the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, targeting older persons and individuals living with severe disabilities.
Speaking during a press briefing on the June-July disbursement, social protection and senior citizen affairs principal secretary Joseph Motari noted that the June cycle payment had been delayed due to a data cleanup exercise, a move to ensure that the money gets to the right beneficiaries.
“The June cycle payment had been delayed due to a data cleanup. We apologize to beneficiaries for any inconvenience caused by the delay.”Motari further noted that the disbursement covers for both June and July 2025 payment cycles with each beneficiary expected to receive 4000 shillings.
According to Motari, the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme aims to alleviate poverty and promote the well-being of society’s most vulnerable members, including older persons aged 70 and above, orphans and vulnerable children, and persons with severe disability.
“In line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health coverage, I encourage all Inua Jamii beneficiaries to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access affordable and quality healthcare,” he added
The beneficiaries have also been challenged to use their stipends to register with the Social Health Authority to access affordable and quality Healthcare.
