Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has announced significant changes in his administration, including a reshuffling of his cabinet and sending nine top county officers on a one-month compulsory leave.

Speaking at the county headquarters, Governor Bii said the leave decision followed a performance review aimed at conducting a comprehensive staff appraisal to enhance service delivery.

In the reshuffle, several executives have been reassigned to new roles. Elijah Kosgey has been moved from the public service docket to head the education department, while Dr. Sam Kotut has transitioned from the environment docket to agriculture. Edward Sawe, formerly in charge of agriculture, will now oversee lands, and Anthony Sitienei has shifted from education to water.

Additionally, Governor Bii has appointed Johnstonne Kotut as his economic advisor and Dr. Pius Kiplimo as Chief of Staff.

The governor emphasized that the changes are part of a broader strategy to boost service delivery in the county.

“We are committed to ensuring this year is about work and delivering on our promises to the people,” said Bii, urging residents to ignore political propaganda circulating in the region.

Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea echoed the governor’s sentiments, urging residents to focus on development. “When the time for politics comes, everyone will have a chance to account for their work. For now, let’s support the governor to achieve his development agenda,” Kapkea stated.

Governor Bii, who has faced mounting pressure from residents to take action against underperforming officials, reassured the public that his administration remains focused on the ten-point development agenda, popularly known as Nguzo Kumi.
