Outgoing Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry, Salim Mvurya, has officially handed over to his successor, Lee Kinyanjui, in a ceremony focused on collaboration and continuity for national growth.

Mvurya, now the CS for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, expressed confidence in Kinyanjui’s leadership.

“Having served as a Governor, Member of Parliament, and Assistant Minister, his leadership will undoubtedly drive reforms and strengthen ongoing initiatives in this Ministry,” he said.

He highlighted key programmes for Kinyanjui’s focus, including the rural industrialisation programme, which is set to expand to all 47 counties.

“As you take over, addressing pending issues such as land acquisition for two zones will be critical,” Mvurya noted.

He also stressed the importance of leveraging trade agreements like AfCFTA and CEPA to boost Kenya’s exports and attract investments.

“Investment has risen to KSh 230 billion, with a steady inflow of both foreign and domestic investors. This progress must continue under your leadership,” he urged.

New CS Lee Kinyanjui expressed gratitude for Mvurya’s guidance and pledged to build on the foundation laid.

“This seamless transition promises continuity and a renewed commitment to economic transformation,” Kinyanjui said.

He emphasized the need for industry resilience in the face of technological shifts and called for reforms to ensure stability.

“We must introduce predictable taxation and regulatory frameworks to foster investor confidence,” he said.

Kinyanjui also highlighted plans to boost local manufacturing, enhance product quality, and expand exports to strengthen Kenya’s position in the global market.

“Our untapped potential in economic partnerships, especially with the EU and UAE, must be aligned with our local industries to create jobs and ensure growth,” he added.

The transition signals a renewed focus on industrial growth and economic transformation under Kinyanjui’s leadership.
