Kenyan teenage racing sensation Shane Chandaria produced a stellar performance at the Indian Racing Festival over the weekend, earning multiple podiums finishes and special honours in a display that cements his status as one of motorsport’s brightest young talents.

At just 15 years old, Shane continues to make history as Kenya’s youngest international Formula 4 driver.

He set the pace early by claiming pole position in both Qualifying 1 and 2, setting up a strong weekend ahead.

Across the four races, Shane delivered consistently outstanding results — finishing sixth in Race 1, storming to victory with the fastest lap in Race 2, taking fifth and another fastest lap in Race 3, and concluding with a third-place podium finish in Race 4.

Thanks to this impressive run, Shane now leads the overall championship standings with two rounds remaining in the five-round series — a remarkable achievement for one of the youngest drivers on the grid.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA)-sanctioned Formula 4 category is recognized as the first step on the pathway to Formula 1, and the Indian Racing Festival is regarded as one of Asia’s most competitive development circuits, attracting elite young drivers from across the globe.

Shane’s participation has been made possible through the support of Victoria Commercial Bank, which contributed €10,000 towards his racing campaign. The bank hailed Shane’s success as a testament to Kenya’s growing presence in emerging global sports.

Traditionally known for its dominance in athletics, Kenya is now witnessing a new sporting frontier. Shane’s rise signals a historic breakthrough for African representation in international motorsport, proof that with opportunity and support, young talent from the continent can compete at the highest levels of global racing.
