Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to monitoring and accelerating the implementation of key development projects under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Speaking during a consultative forum with Isiolo County leaders, Kindiki emphasized that prioritizing high-impact value chains—such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, mining, and the blue economy—will significantly boost household incomes at the grassroots level.
“In Isiolo County and other pastoralist regions, revitalization of the livestock value chains will ensure better returns for livestock keepers and enhance their access to international markets,” he stated.
The Deputy President also highlighted the progress of the Kenya Leather Industrial Park (KLIP) in Kenanie, Machakos County.
He noted that the industrial park, now in its advanced stages of construction, will be a game-changer in the livestock sector by improving the off-take of hides and skins for value addition and manufacturing.

“Once operational, KLIP will increase the leather industry’s contribution from KSh 15 billion to KSh 175 billion annually while creating over 100,000 jobs, up from the current 17,000,” Kindiki said.
During the forum, leaders reviewed the status of ongoing government projects aimed at transforming Isiolo’s economy.
Among those in attendance were Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, Deputy Governor James Lowassa, Woman Representative Mumina Bonaya, Isiolo North MP Joseph Lomwa Samal, County Assembly Speaker Mohamed Roba, economic sector leaders, professionals, and grassroots representatives.
