Government Introduces Online Platform to Assist Kenyans Overseas

The Kenyan government has introduced an online platform to aid Kenyans Overseas. The government has launched the Diaspora Integrated Information Management System (DIIMS) through its eCitizen platform. With this update, Kenyans abroad will be able to access a number of services from their country of origin without having to visit the embassy.

The Consulate General of Kenya in Dubai stated that the DIIMS online portal enables Kenyans abroad to register, form diaspora groups, report missing persons or death, seek assistance in emergencies, and participate in crisis mapping.

The government has also focused on issues affecting Kenyans in the Middle East, such as the abuse, harassment, and poor working conditions that many face at the hands of employers of domestic workers.

The government has also established a 24/7 diaspora response center to respond to emergencies such as medical issues, arrests, or missing documents. These services can be reached through a call to +254 207 876 000 or through WhatsApp at +254 114 757 002 or through email.

The government has also introduced the Kazi Majuu program through DIIMS to provide legal jobs to its citizens in other countries such as Germany, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Kingdom.

They also introduced the Uwezo Fund through the Youth Enterprise Development Fund to provide financial assistance to young Kenyans looking to find employment abroad.

The government has introduced financial assistance to young Kenyans looking to find employment abroad through the Youth Enterprise Development Fund and the Uwezo Fund up to a maximum of KSh 300,000 to cover air fare, visa, and training costs.

The DIIMS online platform has been a great step towards assisting Kenyans abroad to access government services.
