Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has made changes to the ongoing police recruitment exercise, expanding it to include former National Youth Service graduates who were left out in the earlier notice.
According to Kanja, in a new announcement on Friday, November 7, the update corrects omissions in the initial advert that was published earlier in the week.
“Besides the current NYS recruits, former trainees are also encouraged to present themselves for consideration,” he said.
The revised notice indicates that the eligible candidates should report to their respective sub-county recruitment centres or head to the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi.
Kanja also declared changes in three recruitment venues: the exercise will now be held at Ole Polos Centre in Kajiado West Sub-County, the Deputy County Commissioner’s office in Elangata Wuas and Ng’osuani Centre in Narok West.
He clarified that all other information from the previous notice remained unchanged, including the recruitment date and general requirements.
The interested applicants will be required to download and fill the official forms from the National Police Service website and present themselves in person during the recruitment exercise. They should carry their national ID, academic certificates, and copies of the same.
The eligibility criteria are that the candidates must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, they must have at least a D+ in KCSE, they must be physically and medically fit, and should not have a criminal record.
Male applicants must be at least 5 feet 8 inches tall, while female aspirants must be at least 5 feet 3 inches.
Kanja reminded Kenyans that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and warned against bribery or any form of corruption during the process.
“Anyone caught giving or taking a bribe will face the law. Providing false information during recruitment is equally a criminal offence,” he warned.
The recruitment drive is part of efforts to boost the police workforce and give young Kenyans, including former NYS members, a chance to serve their country.
