Ex-Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Interior Dave Munya Mwangi has been charged with fraudulent acquisition of a parcel of land along Mombasa Road.

Munya is accused of forging a title deed with the help of a rogue official at the Ministry of Lands to acquire the 1.591 hectares, which he allegedly leased to a Chinese company, Onda Concrete Limited, for KSh 12 million.

According to DCI, the former PS reportedly executed the scheme jointly with two others – Sammy Louis Karanja and Moses Ojuka (former employee at the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning) who are still at large.

After an investigation by the DCI Land Fraud Investigators, a file was presented to the ODPP, who made the decision to charge the three with three counts of conspiracy to defraud, uttering a false document and forgery of a title.

Munya pleaded not guilty to the charges and was slapped with a bond of KSh 20 million with the alternative of a cash bail of KSh 5 million.

Detectives are currently in hot pursuit of Karanja and Ojuka.
