The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title race took a dramatic twist on Wednesday as both leaders Kenya Police FC and second-placed Tusker FC suffered defeats, handing Gor Mahia a golden opportunity to take control.

Kenya Police were edged out 2-1 by Kakamega Homeboyz in a closely contested match away from home, keeping them at the top with 58 points.

Meanwhile, Tusker’s title ambitions took a hit as they fell 2-0 to Talanta FC at Dandora Stadium in Nairobi, remaining on 55 points.

These results opened the door for third-placed Gor Mahia, who sit on 53 points with two games in hand.

The record champions are set to face bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars on Thursday. A win in that fixture would lift them to second place with 56 points—just two behind Police, and still with a game in hand.

Should Gor Mahia also win their rescheduled match against AFC Leopards, they would leap to the top of the table for the first time this season, with just three games remaining in the campaign.

The race for the FKF Premier League crown is now tighter than ever, with momentum swinging in favor of the reigning giants as the season enters its decisive phase.
