The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has awarded Ulinzi Starlets FC a 3-0 victory following a successful protest over the fielding of an ineligible player by Zetech Sparks FC in their FKF Women’s Premier League (FKF-WPL) match held on March 8, 2025, at Ruaraka Grounds.

The ruling follows Ulinzi Starlets’ formal protest regarding the participation of Bertha Omita, whose transfer to Zetech Sparks had not been finalized at the time of the match.

According to the FKF, Omita appeared on the official team sheet submitted by Zetech Sparks, but no license number was recorded next to her name.

“From the Referee’s Report, the mentioned player appears in the team sheet. However, no license number has been indicated for the player. Article 3.8.3 of the FKF Regulations clearly states that any player whose license cannot be presented during inspection is ineligible to participate in FKF competitions,” the federation said in a statement.

After reviewing the protest alongside official match and club reports, the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) determined that Zetech Sparks breached Article 3.8.1 of the FKF Regulations by fielding an unlicensed player.

“Zetech Sparks FC violated FKF regulations by fielding a player without a valid license. In accordance with Article 3.8.4, the club has forfeited the match, and the result has been awarded to Ulinzi Starlets FC,” the LCC concluded.

The ruling upholds the integrity of the league’s administrative and player registration processes, reinforcing the importance of compliance with federation regulations.
