Kakamega Town residents along with those from the surrounding areas are living in a state of fear after the mysterious deaths of three people in different locations and at different times over the last few days.
Firstly, the lifeless body of a 48-year-old man was found close to the main entrance of Masinde Muliro University, thus the university community was left in complete shock. Subsequently, it was discovered that the second body was lying beside a parked lorry in Lurambi Estate, whereas the third one was found at River Emukaba on the outskirts of the town.
Mahiakalo Assistant Chief Kevin Shikami, who confirmed the incidents, described the cases as very disturbing and advised the residents to remain calm while the investigation was going on.
> “We urge the public to be on the police’s side and provide them with any information, which, in turn, is going to lead to identifying the perpetrators of these killings,” said Shikami.
The police who are launching investigations, have taken the bodies to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue so that they can establish the cause of the deaths and whether the incidents are related.
The killings have spread causing a great deal of anxiety in the area, hence the residents have requested more night patrols to be conducted and that the law enforcement agencies take quick action so that that security can be restored.
