President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet has explained the importance of Raila Odinga clinching the African Union Commission’s (AUC) chairmanship seat.

Farouk said Raila’s win will transcend ethnic affiliations in the country, eradicating tribalism.

The politician further called out people de-campaigning Raila and endorsing his competitors for the plum seat, majorly Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti, especially on social media.

Farouk implored all Kenyans to rally behind the Azimio leader and pray for his victory in the elections slated for February 2025.

"There are people in Kenya now fasting so that Raila Odinga is not elected chairman. We are praying for him to get that seat to eliminate tribalism in Kenya; we don't want it anymore. We rebuke those praying against him," said Farouk.

Raila has been traversing the continent as he endears himself to African presidents to support his candidature.

His campaign has also been boosted by President Ruto, who has been seeking support from African presidents whenever he meets them either in Kenya or during his international trips.
