The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has taken a legal action to the High Court, seeking the confiscation of more than Ksh 813 million that Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and 13 others hold.

This is alleged to be a case of corruption and conflict of interest in the award of road construction contracts.

In a press release, the commission stated that the case, which was filed on October 31, 2025, is a direct consequence of the EACC’s thorough probe of the allegations that while Wamatangi was the Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation, and Housing, he manipulative used his influence for companies related to him.

The anti-corruption agency alleges that the illegal acts were committed between the 2018/2019 and 2021/2022 financial years. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in its lawsuit from the Governor and his circle of conspirators charges them with engaging in fraudulent practices such as submitting forged bid documents and faking technical capacity to obtain profitable contracts from the main government road authorities, KeNHA, KURA, and KeRRA.

The EACC said the legal action is a step toward getting back the public money that was misappropriated and holding those who are involved guilty of breaching procurement and integrity laws.

The case will see Governor Wamatangi, the other respondents, and their legal representatives answering the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌allegations.
