The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) held a lively political gathering at Hustler Plaza in Nairobi, led by Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar Hassan. The event brought together members ‘tutam’ brigade a grassroots movement drawn from across Nairobi City County.

Sen. Hassan speaking at the meeting, he spoke about UDA’s plans to strengthen its urban networks and amplify the voices of Nairobi’s youthful electorate. He warmly welcomed the ‘tutam’ brigade sharing a message of inclusion and empowerment, emphasing the importance of grassroots mobilization in shaping UDA’s future.

The ‘tutam’ brigade, led by Liz Waithira, who is the patron, is drawn from the 17 constituencies of Nairobi City County. The group is championing public sensitization of programs being undertaken by the government as they support President Ruto’s re-election in 2027.

Nairobi, being the critical battleground in Kenya’s political landscape, UDA intends to consolidate its influence in the city, positioning itself as the most attuned to aspirations of ordinary citizens.

The move will reflect UDA’s broader strategy blending political structures with grassroots movements that will thrive digital platforms, street-level mobilization and cultural symbolism.

At the tutam brigade meeting, those present included UDA Vice Chairperson Kelvin Lunani, Party Directors, Joseph Mulili (Finance and Administration), Margaret Ndanyi (Women Affairs),Nathaniel Mong’are (Communication), Rob Jilo (Political Affairs, Resource Mobilization and Diaspora) and Grace Gicovi (Membership).
