Duale Opens Modern CT Scan Centre at Longisa Hospital, Boosting Diagnostic Care in Bomet

Residents of Bomet County will now access advanced diagnostic services closer to home after Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale officially opened a new 160-slice CT scan centre at Longisa County Referral Hospital.

The modern facility is expected to greatly improve diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as brain disorders, cancer, trauma-related injuries and other complex illnesses. Health officials said the centre will also support full-body scans, strengthen emergency response and reduce the number of patients being referred to hospitals outside the county. Services like chemotherapy, which often depend on accurate imaging, are also set to benefit.

During the visit, CS Duale also handed over 831 digital devices to health workers, adding to more than 32,000 devices already rolled out across the country. The devices are part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to improve record-keeping, service delivery and decision-making through digital health systems.

The Cabinet Secretary used the occasion to remind county leaders of the government’s commitment to Primary Health Care, stressing that services at this level should remain free for patients and fully funded by the national government, in line with the President’s directive.

He also praised Community Health Promoters for their role in taking healthcare to households and villages, saying their dedication has been key to improving access to care and promoting healthy living at the grassroots.
