In a recent interview with Citizen TV, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua seemed to have shelved his bid to become the Mt. Kenya region’s kingpin, instead endorsing former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the rightful leader of the region.
“Uhuru is the Mt. Kenya kingpin,” Gachagua declared during the interview, signaling his support for Kenyatta’s continued influence over the region’s political direction.
Gachagua ha earlier claimed that he is the senior most mount Kenya Kingpin adding that he must be respected as senior most leader in the region.
Gachagua further explained the decision, citing a covenant made by the community to avoid internal strife among leaders from the Mountain region.
“A covenant has been made by the community that never again shall the people of the Mountain fight their own. That is why when a few leaders are told to fight me, they are finding it very difficult because a decision was made,” he added.
