Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects linked to a harrowing robbery and gang rape case involving a woman whose vehicle got stuck along the Ruai-Kangundo Road last month.
Ben Waimari and Moses Odhiambo, alias Pascal, were apprehended in a joint operation by DCI officers from Dandora and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, following the brutal incident that occurred on the night of March 11, 2025.
According to police, the victim was on her way to her home in Malaa when her car became stuck in the mud. As she tried to free it, she was approached by seven men posing as Good Samaritans. Moments later, the men turned violent, bundling her into the boot of her own vehicle before speeding off.
The gang drove through the Mowlem area and eventually stopped near Nairobi River at Kwa Mbao in Dandora. It was there that the suspects allegedly pulled the woman from the boot and took turns sexually assaulting her.
Her cries drew the attention of a concerned motorist who intervened, prompting the attackers to flee the scene with her vehicle. The victim was rushed to hospital and the matter reported at the Kwa Mbao Police Post.
In addition to the physical and emotional trauma, the victim lost household items she had purchased, money siphoned from her accounts, and her vehicle, which was later found vandalized and stripped of its wheels.
Through forensic analysis and relentless tracking, detectives retraced the suspects’ movements and eventually cornered them, leading to their arrest. The two led officers to Maringo in Buruburu sub-county, where the stolen vehicle and other personal effects were recovered.
The suspects are currently in custody as police continue pursuing the five other accomplices still at large.
