Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has presided over the launch of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) Strategic Plan 2023-2027 on Wednesday at the Prosecution Training Institute (PTI) in Loresho, Nairobi.
In his address, the Deputy President emphasized the need for collaboration among independent institutions and other arms of government to realize the goals envisioned by the Constitution.
“While we applaud and celebrate the creation of independent offices and institutions by our Constitution, we must at all times remind ourselves that for the realization of the objectives, purposes, and vision of all these institutions, they must work collaboratively with all other arms of Government. No single institution can deliver without the collaborative, cooperative, facilitative, and friendly support and relationship with all other arms of Government and institutions,” said Deputy President Kindiki.

He highlighted the role of interdependence and synergy in governance, noting the establishment of a liaison function under the Office of the Deputy President through Executive Order No. 2 of 2023.
This initiative aims to foster cooperation between Constitutional Commissions, Independent Offices, and the National Government on critical issues such as budgets, policy formulation, and the implementation of recommendations.

“We must shed off the pursuit for distinction, difference, and autonomy, and instead pursue collegial engagements and collaborative frameworks across all arms and anchors of Government, including Independent Offices, Constitutional Commissions, and County Governments—operating within the spirit of ‘delivering as one,’” he added.

Deputy President Kindiki also commended the ODPP for its transformative efforts and reiterated the government’s support for advancing justice in Kenya.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Renson Ingonga, the Director of Public Prosecutions; George Murugara, Chairman of the National Assembly Legal Affairs Committee; Hilary Sigei, Chairman of the Senate Legal Affairs Committee; and various development partners and players in the administration of justice.
