The Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi, is looking for the Migori man whose shoe was hurled toward President William Ruto while addressing residents of the Kehancha area on Sunday.
In the incident, which has generated mixed reactions, the shoe hit President Ruto on the hand as he was making his speech.
Taking to social media, Itumbi explained the context of the video, saying that as the crowd was recording the president using their phones, one man raised his shoe as if also capturing the moment. The shoe was, unfortunately, in turn, kicked by someone who had been blocked by it. The shoe headed to the president’s side by mistake.
"What started as a light moment quickly escalated. As the crowd eagerly raised their phones to capture the President, one creative citizen — without a phone — lifted his shoe in jest, pretending it was a camera. Someone beside him, annoyed that the ‘shoe-cam’ blocked his view, slapped it away. Unfortunately, it flew forward… straight toward the President. That was just a moment that got out of hand," said Itumbi.
Consequently, Itumbi is looking for the man to reward him with a real camera, courtesy of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika’s husband, Sam Mburu.
Itumbi said the man will now use the camera to shoot real content just as he had wished when he raised his ‘shoe-cam’.
