Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Ruku has dismissed the opposition’s plan to have one presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, saying that it will not have any impact on the President.

During a tour to inspect government projects in Mbeere North, Embu County, Ruku assured that the next election would see William Ruto overpowering.

He said that the government’s up-and-coming development and economic reforms were good enough to earn the people’s support. “Through his economic reforms and people empowerment strategy President Ruto has only and always showed the way for a second term to him. The opposition may try and get that one candidate, but they won’t succeed,” said Ruku.

Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira, who was at the school electrification project in Igembe North, Meru County, also backed the President message of support.

Wachira said that the communities will be empowered through the construction of roads, and the energy sector will be transformed through the installation of solar panels and mini-grids which will reduce electricity costs.

“The President is focused on economic transformation and ensuring every region benefits from government initiatives. Central Kenya must stand firm with him,”Whachira said.

The opposition has indicated that they will present a jointly backed candidate to face Ruto in 2027, but government proponents are of the view that ongoing development projects and grassroots support will give the President a decisive edge.
