Information, Communications, and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has rejected claims of political discord in the Mt Kenya region following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Tuesday Kabogo asserted that President William Ruto’s message continues to resonate positively with the people of Mt Kenya.

“Those saying there’s trouble in the mountain, there’s no trouble. I will go to the mountain and send the President’s greetings, and they will be well received,” Kabogo said.

Gachagua has been active in criticising leaders in the region aligned with the Kenya Kwanza government, accusing them of betraying the people of Mt Kenya by supporting President Ruto.

This has led to incidents where leaders like Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi have been heckled by residents.

Kabogo dismissed Gachagua’s political manoeuvres, likening them to “a frog’s noise that can’t stop a cow from drinking water,” emphasizing that his influence in the region is limited.

“Even if a few people are making noise, as we say, ‘the eyes of a frog can’t stop a cow from drinking water,’” he said.

The CS also took aim at Gachagua’s recent criticisms of government projects and his fallout with President Ruto, questioning his credibility.

“That noise in the mountain will eventually fade away. It’s impossible for someone who was in the kitchen, where the cooking was happening, to be kicked out and then come out claiming the cook added poison to the food. Is such a person mentally sound?” Kabogo remarked.

Kabogo also warned against the potential formation of a new political coalition by Gachagua and other Mt Kenya leaders, cautioning that they might be heading in the wrong direction.

“Those making noise in the mountain are getting on a bus that’s not going anywhere,” he said.

During the launch of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, Gachagua vowed to do whatever necessary to ensure President Ruto serves only one term.

He expressed his desire to work with like-minded individuals and parties to challenge what he termed bad governance, corruption, and dictatorship.
