Nairobi will host a deliciously unique event on May 31 as Cakehearts International Hospitality Institute organises a one-of-a-kind Cake Picnic. The event is designed to bring together baking enthusiasts, amateur bakers, and cake lovers from all walks of life to share in their passion for sweet treats.
To participate, attendees are expected to carry a 2-kilogram cake, whether homemade or purchased from a store. The entry fee for the event is KSh 300, which can be redeemed at the venue for refreshments like tea, coffee, or bottled water. While the specific venue will be announced soon, excitement is already building around the picnic.
For safety and health purposes, all cakes must come with a detailed list of ingredients to help identify potential allergens. A security team will be present at the entry point to inspect each cake before it is added to the shared serving table.
Each participant will receive a cake box to take home samples of various cakes brought by others, allowing everyone to enjoy a taste of multiple recipes. However, the event is strictly for adults—children will not be permitted to attend.
The Cake Picnic is supported by several sponsors, including well-known brands such as Lyons Maid, Melvins, and Rebune. One of the day’s highlights will be a friendly competition to crown the best-decorated cake, with the top prize being a Rebune stand mixer.
The picnic promises to be a warm, social, and sugary affair, perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth and a love for community bonding through baking.
