Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has launched Kenya’s first-ever Digital Health Agency Strategic Plan, calling it a key step toward building a technology-driven healthcare system.

Speaking during the 9th Devolution Conference in Homa Bay County, Duale also reflected on the progress made in the past year under the country’s Digital Health Transformation program  a central part of efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

He highlighted flagship projects such as the Taifa Care digital platform, which links patient records, telemedicine, insurance, and facility data to improve care and curb fraud; a digitized community health system to help promoters track maternal and child health; and real-time supply chain tracking to prevent stockouts and wastage of medicines and vaccines.

Duale also announced that the biometric patient identification system  the first of its kind in the region  is already helping verify patient identities, reduce fraud, and ensure only qualified medical professionals serve the public.

So far, 15,000 digital devices have been distributed to public health facilities, with a goal of 74,000 nationwide.

Calling for stronger partnerships, the CS urged counties, communities, and partners to use devolution to drive equity and inclusion in healthcare through technology.

The event was attended by top Ministry of Health officials, county leaders, and health sector partners.
