ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has lauded the progress of Konza Technopolis, describing it as a major step toward positioning Kenya as Africa’s leading technology hub.

Speaking during the official launch of Phase One infrastructure at Konza Technopolis, Kabogo said the milestone marks a new era of innovation and economic transformation in the country.

The event was graced by President William Ruto, who commissioned key infrastructure projects including 40 kilometers of modern roads, 170 kilometers of water and drainage systems, six kilometers of utility tunnels housing fibre optics, and a 120-megawatt smart power substation.

President Ruto also toured the Konza Technopolis Experience Centre and Intelligence Operations Centre, showcasing state-of-the-art facilities that will drive Kenya’s transition to a digital economy.

Kabogo emphasized the need for a whole-of-government approach to fully integrate ministries into developing projects at Konza, ensuring collaboration and synergy across sectors.

“Konza Technopolis is not just a project — it’s a vision for Kenya’s digital future. By bringing together all ministries and partners, we can propel it to become the best technological hub in Africa,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary noted that Konza will not only attract investors and entrepreneurs but also create jobs and foster technological research and development across multiple industries.

Among those present were Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura, and several principal secretaries.
