A High Court advocate has been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Milimani over an alleged KSh69 million gold scam after months of evading court proceedings.
The suspect was arrested after a warrant of arrest which was issued for his refusal to comply with court summons. The warrant had first been issued when Osewe was a fugitive, and refused turn up for a hearing at the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Milimani on October 23, 2025.
Osewe was arrested by detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nairobi Regional Office at one of the courts located in Milimani Law Courts.
According to investigators, Osewe is charged with obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 313 of the Penal Code. Prosecutors allege that he, together with an accomplice, obtained Sh69,024,800 from a complainant by falsely claiming they were in a position to sell gold bars.
The warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to appear before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Milimani on October 23, 2025, to take plea, prompting the court to forfeit the cash bail he had previously deposited.
Upon arraignment, Osewe denies the accusation.
The court ordered that he be remanded in custody pending the hearing and determination of his bail application as investigations and prosecution of the case continue.
His remand continues while awaiting the decision of the bail application, and the prosecution and investigation are carried on.
