TBM Health FC and Kolwa Falcons were crowned champions of the BingwaFest Nyanza Region men’s and women’s football tournaments after commanding performances in the finals held on Sunday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya County.
In the women’s final, Kolwa Falcons staged a spirited comeback to edge Thrive Sports Kenya 2-1 after trailing by a goal, while TBM Health FC delivered a dominant display in the men’s final, thrashing Kianja Allstars 4-0 to lift the trophy.
Both champions walked away with Ksh1 million in prize money. Runners-up Thrive Sports Kenya and Kianja Allstars each received Ksh500,000.
The third-place finishers, Daraja Mbili FC and Uhola Queens, who overcame Asembo United and Sinaga FC respectively in the playoffs, pocketed Ksh250,000 apiece.
Rugby Sees Thrilling Turnarounds
In the rugby competition, Kisumu Development pulled off a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat Kisii University 12-8 in the men’s final. On the women’s side, Nyagichencha cruised to a convincing 31-0 win over Sidindi.
Third place in the men’s and women’s categories went to Winam and Nyakongo, who beat JOOST and Nyamira Community respectively in the playoff matches.
Just like in football, the rugby champions earned Ksh1 million, the runners-up took home Ksh500,000, and third-place teams received Ksh250,000 each.
Basketball Glory for China Squad and Dream Team
In the 3×3 basketball tournament, China Squad and Dream Team emerged as men’s and women’s champions, securing Ksh500,000 each. China Squad beat Redeem Team 13-7, while Dream Team edged out Aces 16-13 in a tightly contested final.
Redeem Team and Aces claimed Ksh250,000 each for finishing second, while Rising Stars and Adili Sparks, who settled for third place, earned Ksh100,000 apiece.
