Cheptil High School of Kenya secured their first-ever FEASSA Boys’ Volleyball championship after edging out Uganda’s Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School in a thrilling 3-2 final held in Kakamega.
The hard-fought victory not only marked a historic milestone for Cheptil but also denied Namugongo a long-awaited title, as they suffered their second consecutive final defeat to a Kenyan side.
In 2024, Namugongo lost to Namwela Secondary—another Kenyan powerhouse—in the championship match.
Cheptil, who were eliminated at the semifinal stage last year, showcased remarkable resilience and determination to bounce back stronger in 2025 and claim the top spot.
Namugongo head coach Joshua Osia graciously accepted the result, describing the final as one of the most intense and competitive matches his team has faced.
The defeat marks back-to-back heartbreaks for Namugongo, who now look to regroup and come back stronger in future editions.
