Businessman Francis Ng’ang’a Mundia on Monday told a court that he has not had proper sleep since the death of his wife in October 2024.
While testifying before Chief Magistrate Christine Njagi, Ng’ang’a said he was unaware that his wife, Lucy Wambui, was scheduled to undergo surgery at the clinic where she later died. He informed the court that he did not sign any consent authorising the procedure, adding that only the deceased and her cousin approved the surgery.
The court further heard that Ng’ang’a was not informed about the operation beforehand. However, during cross-examination by lawyers representing three of the accused persons, he was questioned on whether he was aware that his wife had pre-existing medical conditions.

In the case, four suspects who were involved in the surgical procedure are charged with manslaughter. The charges were approved by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Renson Mulele, on April 2, 2025
Lucy Wambui, who was 47 years old, died on October 26, 2024, due to complications arising from the surgery.
More witnesses are expected to testify later this week on Thursday, including the doctor and a nurse who attended to the late Wambui, as the hearing continues.
